Family involvement is a critical component of addiction treatment and recovery. Augustine Recovery is dedicated to helping clients and their families achieve long-term recovery and healing by providing comprehensive family involvement services. Augustine Recovery provides a safe and supportive space for families to participate in their loved one’s treatment. We believe in treating the entire family unit and working alongside the loved one to achieve the best possible outcome for lasting change and long-term recovery.
Open Communication: Augustine Recovery’s treatment team values open communication with the loved ones of our clients and is second to none. The team maintains open lines of communication with family members to provide regular updates on their loved ones’ progress in treatment. Loved ones can expect weekly calls from case management to update you on a client’s current treatment progress, however, you will always be able to reach out

Sample Family Involvement and Program Schedule

Dear Family Members,

Both your loved one and we are looking forward to seeing you this Friday afternoon. We strive to make this a meaningful experience for both our clients and you as family members. To assist in planning your visit and preparing for the weekend, we have included the following schedule for this weekend’s program. The focus of this weekend’s program will be family systems, which includes looking at the family system as an entire entity and each individual member’s contribution to the system. Dependence on substances affects both of these. Our hope is to assist each individual in identifying how the experiences with substances have affected both of these aspects. Also, to prepare for the weekend, we have attached a worksheet to walk you through discovering the “rules” we have adopted as the “right” and “meaningful” ways to be in relationships and get an understanding of how one personally navigates relationships.

We encourage you to come an open heart and your honesty about your experience with this disease and the sadness, frustration, loss, grief, hope, and confusion that is a part of it.

Kindest regards and hopeful excitement for the weekend,

The Staff of Augustine Recovery

Family Support Calls

One of the important resources we provide to loved ones is to invite you to the weekly Family Support Calls. Each featured loved one on the call can share in their own words and from their own perspectives what they have experienced and learned and serves as a safe space to connect with other loved ones of addicts and alcoholics who are currently in treatment or are alumni.

We listen and learn while they explain what they have experienced with addiction and recovery. The majority of the participants are silent observers in this virtual theater. We want you to feel comfortable and relaxed and maybe even get some questions answered that haven’t been thought of yet.

The disease of Addiction and Alcoholism is aggressive. The weekly call is a tool that can help. Initially the recovery language was very confusing to many of us. Listening as parents and family members share their experiences and solutions helped us a lot.

We have learned that the recovery process can be made easier by doing it with people that share our frustrations, feelings and experiences. Learning to speak the language of recovery is a really powerful tool.

As the Al-Anon literature states:
“Take what you need and leave the rest”.
We look forward to meeting you as we walk through recovery together.”

Warmly,
Augustine Recovery Family Alumni.
